Chamomile: a 2025 review of clinical evidence

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) is one of the most-studied plants in phytotherapy. Over the past five years more than 40 controlled studies of its active compounds have been published.

The flavonoid apigenin has been shown to reduce inflammatory mediators in the gastric mucosa: over 8-week courses, endoscopic improvement was recorded in 74% of patients.
